Looking for someone to inspire your audience about the benefits of growing in small spaces in the city? Or to run a practical workshop on growing food in containers and small spaces?
Whether you want a thirty minute inspirational talk for 200 people or a two day in depth workshop for ten, get in touch with me (Mark) to discuss your needs.
I believe that learning happens best when people are active and having fun. All my workshops are participative and mix theory and practical.
Past clients include Garden Organic, London Permaculture Festival, Capital Growth, South London Botanical Institute, Greening Wingrove, Back to Front Leeds, Middlesborough Environment City, and Newcastle Council.
“Attaching feedback forms from your event. All extremely positive (I see lots of forms and generally they’re all very good but these really seem extra over-the-top happy!)….. it’s good to know that it appeals to gardeners with a lot of knowledge as well as beginners.” Caroline Pankhurst, Education and Project Manager, South London Botanical Institute.
Whether you want a workshop for a community group, your employees or for a festival or event, I’ll design it to meet your needs. From salads and herbs to containers and fertilisers, I run workshops on all aspects of growing food in containers. Some popular topics include:
- The ten keys to successful container gardening
- How to grow microgreens / salads / herbs / fruit / veg in small spaces
- The best crops for small spaces, including unusual and exotic varieties.
- How to grow for free
- How to set up and run a wormery
- How to maximise harvests in a small space
“The Vertical Veg Street activity has been the highlight of my work at the Greening Wingrove project. The training sessions have helped so many people from total beginners to the more experienced enthusiast. The fact that there are growing numbers at each session and that people are willing to come along even in torrential downpours is testament to this approach and what people are getting out of it.” Helen Nisbet, Manager of the Greening Wingrove Project
I give talks on a wide range of container growing and small space growing related topics.
I’m passionate about the potential of growing food in small spaces in the city. How much it is possible to grow – and how it can change what you eat, help green streets, bring people together, reduce food waste, reconnect people with the seasons and nature in the city. Not to forget the joy of growing and eating fresh home grown food.
Places I’ve been invited to speak include Kew Gardens, Garden Organic, the Manchester International Festival, Galway City Council, and Grow London, as well as many local gardening and permaculture groups up and down the country.
